Biogen IDEC Headquarters

Biogen Idec, is a world leader in the development of medical therapies.

Working closely with Overbury (Southern) Ltd and HOK, Furniture Contracts have completed bespoke joinery for the innovatively designed office space within their new UK Headquarters.

Arriving within entrance lobby the impressive reception desk makes a bold statement about the modern and progressive business. Manufactured from walnut and white glass, carefully internally illuminated to create a powerful brand statement for the businesses.

We also created bespoke joinery elements within the main offices and meeting rooms, such as book cases and administration pods in decorative hardwood and toughened coloured glass. Similarly within the staff restaurant area, with much emphasis on work/life we contributed features such as a beautiful medical gazette display, and a patisserie unit made from wood and curved glass.

"I have always found Furniture Contracts to be a very proactive subcontractor, keen to work with us, our Clients and their Architects in producing a first class product, on time and within the particular budget constraints of the project.

They have always been prepared to assist with value engineering and have proved to be consistently helpful and flexible whilst on site.

I would have no hesitation in recommending them for future projects."

Capital International, Inc

Most bespoke joinery projects have their complexities, but the phased refurbishment of the Ground, 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of Capital International’s offices in Grosvenor Place within a six month period has been an interesting challenge, and this has now been delivered successfully.

Working for Overbury as Main Contractor, Furniture Contracts have supplied a substantial quantity of bespoke joinery and decorative maple wall panelling. The main reception desk features Napoleon Emporado stonework from Italy, with sumptuous American Luxe Calf leather trim.

Bookcases and credenza units were incorporated within the perimeter system of the work spaces and trading areas. This featured delicately patterned maple timber, stretched fabric panelling and back painted glass.

Furniture Contracts also supplied all the bespoke furniture for the break out areas, touch down points and dining areas.

Satisfying the clients need to conduct the works within occupation of the building, it was necessary to complete the installation of all joinery ‘out of hours’ with additional restriction on noise levels. This presents logistical and operational challenges for the site craftsmen to perform within, as the site has to be handed back to the client each day.

Interior Design on this project was undertaken by Gensler.

Site Teams awarded CSCS accreditation

Making beautiful joinery in prodigious quantities is only part of the challenge on big office fit-out projects. It's just as vital to be able undertake setting out drawings to ensure that everything is made perfectly to size, and scribed to fit the available apertures.

Installation is another vital element in ensuring that the bespoke joinery meets the quality of manufacture and finishes, that today's interior designers and architects demand.

Our site teams are all CSCS accredited and in line with most Main Contractor requirements holders of First Aid Certificates.
